Earlier today, the new version of Reeder was released… Its different.
The Update
The new version of Reeder puts everything into a single timeline. No folders, no read status. Just the timeline.
This is a pretty interesting way to make an RSS reader. With no read states, the app syncs where you are in your timeline.
This kinda breaks how I use an RSS reader. As I prefer to leave things unread that I want to read later. I also use folders to better group sites. Having read items hidden also helps with keeping things clean.
I use the previous version of Reeder on my iPhone, and NetNewsWire on my Mac. Thankfully, the new Reeder is a new app, and Reeder 5 was simply renamed to Reeder Classic. The dev is going to keep both going.
I did fork over $10 to try out the new Reeder, and I don’t regret it. Sure it’s not for me, but I still really like Reeder Classic, so it’s a kinda tip.
