The Addiction Grows

Photography

In my last post, I talked about how I bought a camera. Well, I definitely have a new hobby.

I was able to get out to my local airport, and got some good pics of planes. Not as good as I would like (needed to set the focus mode to track the plane (I didn’t)). You can see those on my Flickr.

The next thing I did, was throw more money at the hobby. I picked a third lens. A 50mm prime. Now, I already have a lens that can do 50mm, and that’s a zoom lens. So why did I pick up this new one? Speed.

The lens I picked up has a maximum aperture of f1.8. That means it can let in way more light than my other lenses. That lets me use a faster shutter, reducing motion blur. It also gives that sweet depth of field effect.

I’m glad I picked this little thing up. I always liked the bokeh produced by my phone. But unlike that, this lens doesn’t fake it. Making it look even better.
