I’m currently in Denver, again, again. But this post isn’t about that. Its about my odd flight home. You might think, it would be a straight shot from Denver to DC, right?
Nope
Yes, that is what you think it is. I’m flying west, to go east. Now you might be asking, why? Well, it’s simple. Because I wanted to.
When booking my return flight. I had an option, I could fly straight home. Or, fly via Phoenix. Seeing how I’ve never been to that airport, I decided to spend the extra time1 for this weird route. So, enough about the why, let’s cut to me at DEN early in the morning.
DEN -> PHX
After getting through security, I hopped on the train and headed to, not my concourse. I wanted to get some walking in, so I walked almost all of B. I’ll do the last bit next month when I’m connecting to Dallas.
After a good walk, I picked up some food, and went back to the train. This time, for my concourse.
While waiting to board, I took a look at the map for PHX. I’m scheduled to arrive at the gate at 8:42, boarding for my next flight is at 9:00. I don’t like this. Oh, and it’s on the other side of the terminal… fun.
I’m kinda hoping my flights to PHX gets delayed in some way. If I miss my connection because of that, Southwest will have to put me on a new flight, at no charge. That would eliminate the stress, but I have a feeling I’ll be going for a jog. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
PHX -> IAD
Got to gate C6 at 8:38. A few minutes early. Still, I booked it over to D6, with enough spare time to grab a drink. An over priced Dr. Pepper for $4.00.
The WiFi here at PHX is kinda annoying. I had to watch a video ad to get internet access. Oddly, it won’t let go to southwest.com.
Getting back to IAD, I picked up some food, and left for my car. Taking the bus to the parking lot, and then heading home.
Looking Back
Was this worth it? For me, yeah.
I would like to explore PHX more, as it’s pretty cool looking. And has an outdoor train. I just don’t want to cut a connection that close again.
