I like to fly. You should know that by now. But I’ve pretty much only flown on south west1. Well today, that changes.
Doritos
Today I’m flying Delta. I know to most people, that’s nothing special. But I’m so used to the Southwest way, it’s a little weird. Picking my own seats ahead of time, planes other than a 737, seat classes. This is all new for me.
So, why am I not taking a Southwest flight. Well, they dropped their “Two bags fly free” checked bag policy. If I have to pay to check bags, I might as well try other airlines. As that was the only real reason I was sticking with SW.
So I’m giving the triangle airline a shot. But first, I need to head to the airport.
BWI
BWI is BWI. Nothing I haven’t wrote about before. Though this time I parked in the express lot. No ticket, tap your card going in, tap it going out. I like this.
When boarding time came, I got a nice little surprise. A notification when it was time to board. Ok, nothing crazy, but more than I was used to. Then I got one when my boarding zone was called. I like this so far.
BWI -> ATL
I’m not going back to Southwest. That’s what I thought as I sat in my seat. A seat back screen, with movies, live TV, and if you login, it’ll show you your connecting flight info, and will save your progress in a movie… I’m not going back.
The movie I picked was Deadpool and Wolverine. Only got to watch half of it, but I ’ll finish it later. So far, I’m in love with Delta.
ATL -> DAL
That later, didn’t come on this flight. Unlike that 757 I was on, this one doesn’t have any screens. I’m on a soon to be retired Boeing 717. No in flight entertainment of any kind. And engines that rattle your soul on startup.
Delta is retiring all of their 717s at the end of this year. So I’m glad I got to fly on one.
A Direction, Or A Shape
Safe to say, Southwest is dead to me. I still have to fly home2, but I pretty sure I’m not taking Southwest again.
